How to Import Your Own Keywords and URLs for Internal Linking

With Linkbot, you now have the ability to manually import your own keyword and URL combinations to enhance internal link matching within your property. This new feature is in addition to our automatic URL and keyword discovery and linking system, giving you greater control over your internal link structure.

Where to Find the Import Feature:

1. Navigate to your Linking Report page within your Linkbot account.

2. On both the Keywords and Pages tabs, you will see an option at the top right labeled:

+ Import Keywords (on the Keywords tab)

+ Import Pages (on the Pages tab)

Both buttons open the same import window.

How to Import Keywords and URLs:

1. Download the Template:

Download the CSV file linked here: import-template.csv.

2. Fill Out the Template:

• Add the keyword phrases and corresponding URLs you wish to import.

• Each keyword phrase and URL should be listed on a single line, separated by a comma. You can assign multiple keywords to the same URL by listing them on separate lines.

Example:
green widgets, https://mysite.com/widgets

blue widgets, https://mysite.com/widgets

3. Upload the File:

After completing the CSV, click the Upload button and select your filled-out template.

4. Processing the Data:

Once uploaded, Linkbot will process the file by:

• Checking whether each URL and keyword already exists in your property’s data.

• If a URL already exists, it will be matched to its ID.

• If the URL is new, it will be added and assigned a new ID.

• Similarly, keywords will either be matched to existing entries or added if new.

• If a keyword already exists, it will be prioritized over automatically generated keywords from Linkbot.

5. Handling Existing Data:

• If a URL is in an ignored state, it will remain ignored and won’t be reactivated automatically.

• Keywords that are imported will always be prioritized higher than system-generated ones, ensuring they take precedence for linking.

6. Success Notification:

After the import is complete, you will see a success message confirming that the process was completed. Any errors or issues with the import will be highlighted.

FAQ:

Q: What happens if I import a URL that’s already ignored?

A: If the URL is in an ignored state, it will remain ignored. You can manually change the status of URLs via your property settings if needed.

Q: Will imported keywords always have higher priority?

A: Yes, keywords that you manually import will take the highest priority for linking compared to automatically discovered keywords.
