How to Use Page Filters in LinkBot

The page filter functionality in LinkBot allows you to include or exclude specific pages from internal linking by specifying terms found in the URL. This feature helps you target or avoid pages based on your site’s structure and content.

1. Accessing Page Filters

To manage your page filters, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to Property Settings from the main dashboard.

2. Scroll down to the Page Filters section.

2. Understanding Page Filters

There are two types of filters:

Include Filters: Pages that contain specific terms in their URL will be included in internal linking.

Exclude Filters: Pages that contain specific terms in their URL will be excluded from internal linking.

For example:

• A page with the URL www.mysite.com/blog/best-widget-sale will be included if you have set “blog” as an Include Filter.

• A page with the URL www.mysite.com/blog/draft-preview will be excluded if you have set “draft-preview” as an Exclude Filter.

3. Adding a New Page Filter

To add a new filter:

1. Under the Add Filter section, choose between:

Include All: This will include all pages that match the URL string you enter.

Exclude All: This will exclude all pages that match the URL string you enter.

2. Enter the term you want to filter in the URL String field. For example, entering “blog” will filter all URLs containing “blog.”

3. Click the Add Page Filter button. The system will automatically update all URLs based on the new filter criteria.

4. Removing a Filter

To remove an existing filter:

1. Under the Active Filters section, locate the filter you want to remove.

2. Click the X button next to the filter. The system will revert any changes made by that filter, restoring the URLs to their original status unless they are still ignored due to other active rules.

5. FAQs

How do I know if my filter is working?

After adding a filter, the system checks all active URLs and updates their ignore status. You can review the changes by checking your internal linking report.

What happens if I remove a filter?

The system will revert any changes made by the filter, but URLs that were ignored due to other rules (such as keyword ignore or target ignore) will remain in the ignored status.

Can I filter URLs for specific keywords?

Yes, once a filter is set, the system checks if the URLs match the keyword and updates their status accordingly.
